Pearce hails complete team performance

30 September 2015

Stags' defender Krystian Pearce says tonight’s 2-0 win over Stevenage was the most complete team performance this season.

Goals just after half-time from Ryan Tafazolli and Jack Thomas saw the Stags jump into the play-off positions after a dominant display at the Lamex Stadium.

Pearce says as long as the Stags continue to build on performances like tonight’s, they will keep climbing the Sky Bet League Two table.

“I think that is probably the most complete team performance we’ve had so far this season. If we can build on that and get more back to back wins then we should get up the league.”

“[We concentrated on] being organised, being disciplined, sticking to our gameplan and working for each other,” Pearce said.

Boasting the third best defence in the entire Football League at this stage of the season, Pearce believes he and Ryan Tafazolli are continuing to progress as a centre-back pairing.

“I think each game we play, we understand each other a bit better and just get more solid with each game.

“I think our games just compliment each other really. Things I’m not so good at, he’s good at and things he’s not so good at, I’m good at.”

After joining the Stags in the summer from Torquay, Pearce is pleased to be playing regular football and says he wants to keep improving.

“I feel like I’m playing at a consistent level and I want to keep building and building so hopefully I can continue [to do that].”

Young midfielder Jack Thomas scored the Stags’ second goal of the game this evening and Pearce says it’s imperative that he keeps his place in the side after getting his chance in the last couple of games.

“He played well again tonight so hopefully he can keep hold of it and keep performing like that.”
