Manager Paul Cox has revealed that the club won’t be launching an appeal against the red card, which midfielder Jamie McGuire received on Saturday.
McGuire, 30, was shown a straight red card following a collision with Danny Rose in the 22nd minute of our 3-1 defeat to Oxford United at One Call Stadium.
It means that McGuire won’t be available for selection until our FA Cup with Budweiser Second Round clash at either Oldham Athletic or Wolverhampton Wanderers next month.
“The video was inconclusive,” said our boss. “In one part, the challenge doesn’t look like [it warranted] a red card, but [the situation] is like it is.
“We’ve been here time and time again this season, talking about red cards, but the main thing is that we shouldn’t be.
“Apart from [John Dempster’s red card] at Bury, where looking at it in the cold light of day, it was a red card, I think we’ve been a little bit unlucky.
“But we shouldn’t be getting these red cards and we’re giving ourselves a mountain to climb playing with 10 men.”
He added: “You do need really good evidence [to successfully appeal] against a red card, and I don’t personally think we’ve got the evidence to make that claim.”
