Adam Murray described Mansfield Town's 2-0 victory over Stevenage as the 'perfect away performance' at the Lamex Stadium.
Ryan Tafazolli and Jack Thomas notched the goals to hand the Stags all three points and subsequently catapult them into the play-off places.
Speaking post-match, the Stags’ manager said: "We came here with a gameplan and executed [it]. We wanted to overload the midfield area. I thought first half we deserved more but I knew we'd wear them down, we knew we had enough and the chances would come.
"We scored goals at the right time, we worked very hard on our set plays. It was a great performance and a great victory.”
The game went into the half-time break goalless, but Murray was keen to point out that it didn't faze him and his players were carrying out his tactics perfectly.
"We had a gameplan and we were completing it to about 90%, the other ten percent was to get the victory and the boys did that.
"For the first 20-25 minutes of the second half we carried out the plan to a tee, got the goals and really shut up shop.
"Two-nil is a horrible scoreline but I thought we were thoroughly professional when we got to 2-0, we kept working hard, we kept our shape and we kept doing the things getting us success.
"We had a lot of chances, we opened them up in the first half and showed good combinations and I enjoyed watching it. I enjoyed watching us more first half [than the second] as we moved the ball around well."
Murray was full of praise for one of his goalscorers, Ryan Tafazolli, who bagged his third header from a corner this season.
"Tafazolli has looked a man-mountain all season and he's a threat in both boxes. We work on it, it's not a fluke.”
Matt Green saw an effort ruled out for offside but Murray knows the frontman will be back amongst the goals imminently.
"It's quite funny - I can see Greeny with 20 minutes left of the game having his usual battle with himself as he's got that hunger to score.
"We all know Greeny is going to score at least 10-15 goals this season, that's just what he does. He sacrificed himself for the team and we said from day one that it’s a selfless environment we're trying to create."
Despite seeing his side score two goals in a professional performance, the manager retains that a clean sheet gives him great satisfaction towards what he's trying to create at the club.
"We said before the game that the one requirement from an away game is a clean sheet. We pride ourselves on that. You only win if you work hard and we continue to work hard."
