Boss reflects on news of Capital One Cup first round draw.
Manager Adam Murray believes our Capital One Cup first round tie against Sheffield Wednesday will be an exciting occasion for everybody.
News filtered through to One Call Stadium this morning that our team will visit Hillsborough in August, for a game which could be the first home match for the new Sheffield Wednesday manager.
The Owls, who finished 13th in the Sky Bet Championship, are looking for a new boss after making the surprise decision to part company with Stuart Gray only last week.
âItâs a good tie for us and a big game,â said our boss. âWeâre all looking forward to it. Itâs nice to play against a big club so early on in the season and itâll be good to gage ourselves against them.
âTheyâre a huge club who probably havenât reached their potential over the last few years. They have a great stadium, excellent fans and itâll be a good game for us to go into.â
Murray continued: âWe faced one of the Sheffield teams last year and it was a good occasion, so weâll be looking to go and make our mark on the game and try and progress in the competition.
âI think itâll be exciting. If it does work out that itâll be their new managerâs first home game then I imagine thereâll be a big crowd and itâll create a good atmosphere for our boys.â
He added: âGoing into the new season itâs another game where we can look forward to and go and express ourselves with all the pressure being on them.â
