First team coach previews tomorrow's game at Prenton Park.

First team coach Micky Moore believes our team are in for a tough test when we visit Tranmere Rovers for Micky Adams’ first home match in charge of the Wirral club tomorrow night.

Adams, who was appointed as boss last week, will be determined to quickly-improve Rovers’ fortunes, as they currently occupy bottom position in Sky Bet League Two.

The 52-year-old – a promotion-winner from this level three times in his managerial career – is sure to have his players fired up for what promises to be an intriguing match.

“They’ve got a new manager in Micky Adams [and] he’s very experienced in terms of knowledge of the game and he’s won this league before,” said Moore. “He’ll go in there and give them a big boost.

“They’re bottom of the table, but I think it’s been fine lines on the defeats – the odd goal here and there, so we’re expecting a very difficult game tomorrow.”

Our team head to Prenton Park missing several key players because of a growing injury list.

Amongst the absentees are Ryan Tafazolli (hamstring), John Dempster (groin), Chris Clements (hamstring) and Adam Murray (suspended).

However, Moore confirmed there were no fresh knocks sustained in Saturday’s goalless draw with Cambridge United.

“On Saturday, we had a couple of players who had injections and then played,” continued Moore. “None of the injured players are fit or available for tomorrow, so we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s match itself, our first team coach said: “All things considered in terms of the build up to the game, we were happy with a point.

“When you talk about a defensive display, people will look at the goalkeeper and the back three, but I think as a whole team we worked really hard.

“There were periods in the game where Cambridge did have more possession than us.

“Sascha [Studer] has had to make one or two saves, but I don’t think there were any clear-cut chances, so as team we defended well and worked really hard.”
