Versatile young player becomes Adam Murray’s second new signing of close season.
Mansfield Town have today signed up-and-coming utility player Mitchell Rose on a deal that will see him feature as part of manager Adam Murray’s squad for the 2015/16 season.
Rose, who was born in Doncaster, began his playing career in the youth setup at Rotherham United and then signed a professional contact with the Millers, where he made a total of five league appearances for the first team.
During his three-season spell in the professional ranks at Rotherham, the 20-year-old completed loan moves with Stamford and Crawley Town in an attempt to get further experience in the rigours of different leagues.
Speaking upon signing for the Stags after a successful trial towards the end of last season, Rose was pleased to become part of the club's plans moving forward: “I’m happy to be here for the future to help the team push on to reach good things for next season.
“The gaffer and I had some positive conversations from my first few training sessions and they wanted to immediately get me into a reserves' match to see what I was like.
“I had to be patient, bide my time and perform well when the opportunities were granted to me and I’ve thankfully been rewarded with a contract.
“I knew I had to be ruthless. As a young player you have to take your chances so I had to make sure I was the best player in training and in the games.
“The manager sold everything to me in terms of what he wants for young players at the club.
“It is a great stadium [at Mansfield] and with the plans the manager has moving forward, pushing for promotion, and with the talented players here I have come to know, I’m looking forward to being a part of the club,” he said.
“I’m always looking to improve my game in all areas because I think that is key for my development and contributing to the team."
The younger brother of Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose, Mitchell arrives at One Call Stadium from his most recent club Ilkeston and is looking forward to fulfilling his potential under Adam Murray.
Speaking about the influence that his brother, Rose said: “I look to my brother for a lot of advice and watching him play and having the opportunity to watch Tottenham train always gives me the edge to want to work harder and be better, as that is ultimately everyone’s dream.”
Rose is looking forward to playing under Murray, who has shown that he is willing to give opportunities to talented youth players in the first team: “The manager is very passionate about giving youth a chance and he has proven this by giving the likes of Jack Thomas, Joe Fitzpatrick and Corbin Shires a run in the team.
“It shows that he (Adam Murray) is a man that is willing to back up what he says and I like that he is very positive, believes in you and will always encourage you and this is the manager I want to play under.
“My target now is to come into pre-season and earn the right [to play] with the opportunities that are given to me,” he added.
