Match preview: Notts County vs Mansfield Town

1 September 2015

Your comprehensive guide to tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Firstg Round tie at Meadow Lane (7.45pm)

TEAM NEWS:

Adam Murray’s men returned from Saturday’s victory over York City with no fresh injury concerns ahead of the first round of our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy campaign.

Winger Matty Blair is back in training but a return to the squad may be too soon whilst goalkeeper Scott Shearer is still recovering from a virus.

Notts County will welcome back Stanley Aborah into their matchday squad after he served a one-match suspension for receiving five cautions. Midfielder Liam Noble will complete his three-match ban after being dismissed against Accrington Stanley three games ago. The only injury concern for the Magpies is full-back Elliott Hewitt, who picked up a hamstring injury in last week’s Capital One Cup loss against Aston Villa.

RECENT FORM:

The Stags will be looking to continue their good run of form following their away win against York City on Saturday and last week’s draw against Oxford United.

County have struggled for form ever since the Stags’ fantastic 2-0 victory in the League just two weeks ago. They’ve picked up just one point since that defeat, a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley, losing their other three games..

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

Stags’ fans will need no reminder about the sides’ most recent meeting; that memorable 2-0 win thanks to goals from Chris Clements and Ryan Tafazolli just over two weeks ago.

Tonight’s game is a repeat of last season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round fixture, in which the Nottingham side progressed with a 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from Ronan Murray and Jake Cassidy.

OVERALL RECORD: WON: 12 DRAW: 12 LOST: 16

MATCH OFFICIALS:

Tonight’s referee is Richard Clark and he will be assisted by Ryan Johnson and Ricky Wootton, with Steven Ruchton undertaking the fourth official’s duties.

Experienced referee, Clark, last took charge of the Stags at the beginning of last season in our 2-1 home win against Oxford United.
