Luke Jones signs for Mansfield Town

27 May 2014

Defender set for third spell at One Call Stadium.

We are delighted to announce our first summer signing – centre-back Luke Jones.

The 27-year-old joins us on a free transfer, having chosen to leave Stevenage at the end of last season.

Jones will be fondly remembered by our supporters for the crucial role that he played during our Conference Premier title-winning campaign in 2012/13.

The centre-back contributed eight goals from 32 appearances that season, including winning goals against Woking and Tamworth in the latter stages of the campaign.

This will be his third spell at One Call Stadium, following a previous stint with us in the 2009/10 season.

Shortly after putting pen-to-paper on a contract with us, Jones said: "I'm buzzing really and it’s brilliant to be back.

"I've got such fond memories of the place – especially the year that we won the championship, so I’m delighted to be back and raring to go."

Meanwhile, boss Paul Cox added: "I was surprised to be able to capture him, but it’s a quality signing to the spine of our side. It’s a really positive signing for us."

A full interview with Luke Jones will be available on Stags Player later today. To subscribe, click here.
