Howell: We've got confidence

27 September 2013

Midfielder Anthony Howell is relishing the opportunity to play in front of a sell-out crowd, as we lock horns with arch-rivals Chesterfield tomorrow.

Howell returned to our starting xi last Saturday, as we cruised to a 3-0 win over Northampton Town, which lifted us into the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off zone.

The 27-year-old, who is now in his third campaign at One Call Stadium, can’t wait for our clash with the table-topping Spireites.

“From what I’ve been hearing, it’s a massive rivalry,” said Howell.

“As the days go along and it gets closer, I’m actually starting to look forward to playing in such a big game.

“I think we’ll feel a little bit different [on Saturday morning], but you’ve just got to treat it as a normal game and not get dragged in to the bad way that it could go.

“It’s different as it’s a nice, short journey, but everyone will be prepared and ready to give 100% to try and win.

“We’ve got to keep level-headed. You can’t underestimate them as they’re a good team, who’ve won most of their games and are at top of the table.

“We won’t take anything lightly, but we’re going there to win and to upset them.”

Howell continued: “We’ve gone seven games unbeaten, so we’ve got confidence and players who can go out there and do the job.

“So it’s a big clash and we’re going to have to see what happens.”
