The 20-year-old is a product from the Magpies youth production line and has also gained loan experience at Tamworth and Lewes.

After putting pen to paper this afternoon, Mitchell told www.mansfieldtown.net:  “I want to try and get some vital experience and help the Stags move up the table.”  

Said manager Paul Cox:  "We've kept an eye on Liam for some time.  He is a promising young 'keeper who I am sure will have a bright future in the game."

Meanwhile Cox has stated in his matchday programme notes that goalkeeper Alan Marriott, who suffered a shoulder injury in training this week, will undergo surgery and will be out for ‘a number of months’.
