Tafazolli and Lambe to stay, whilst Clements is close to a new deal.
Duo Ryan Tafazolli and Reggie Lambe will remain at the club for the 2015/16 campaign, whilst playmaker Chris Clements is close to agreeing terms on a new deal according to manager Adam Murray.
The gaffer, who was speaking in a recent interview, says the club have took up options on the contracts of Lambe and Tafazolli, who both played a key role in helping us maintain our Football League status last term.
âEverybody who we have offered contracts to, who havenât gone elsewhere, want to be a part of this football club and what weâre doing here,â said Murray.
âItâs just a matter of discussing whatâs best for both parties at the minute.â
He continued: âReggie (Lambe) and âTafsâ (Ryan Tafazolli) will be with us as weâve got options on their contracts. Obviously they were happy to be a part of what weâre doing. Reggie has been away on international duty and âTafsâ has been away on holiday.
âChris (Clements) wants to stay on board with us. Weâre just trying to sort his deal out and get the best deal for the club and for him.â
Having signed no fewer than eight players already this summer and more expected to follow before pre-season training begins at the end of the month, our manager says that his priorities now are to strengthen our team defensively â including finding the correct goalkeeper for Mansfield Town.
âI think we still need to bring in a couple more bodies in the defensive areas,â admitted Murray.
âObviously the goalkeeper is a huge one. Weâve spoken to a number of candidates for that position and Iâm not going to rush into that one, because I want to make sure itâs right for us.
âSince we lost âMazâ (Alan Marriott) we havenât really replaced that figurehead. Weâre speaking to some really good quality goalkeepers ranging from higher levels to the experienced and efficient goalkeeper thatâs got a good knowledge of our league.
âWeâve got a range of people that weâre looking at and itâs one where I do want experience in because I think itâs a vital part. To marshal and to lead a back four, you need to have that character in between the sticks.â
