FreeView: Local school children enjoy Football in the Community penalty shoot-out competition

27 June 2014

Over 1,000 spot kicks were taken at John Davies Primary School in Huthwaite earlier this week as part of Football in the Community's popular penalty shoot out competition.

Approximately 350 primary school children took part in the activity under basking sunshine.

The shootout activity is just one of a number of programmes staged by Football in the Community (FITC) during the academic year. Already, our FITC department have coached approximately 4,000 local school children this year in the fundamentals of shooting, passing and dribbling whilst promoting teamwork and enjoyment on behalf of Mansfield Town Football Club.

Robert della-Spina, the school's head teacher said:  "We've been working with Football in the Community for about 14 years now and we've built up a really good relationship with the Stags. The children have lots of fun and learn a multitude of skills which they can take forward."
