Freeman set for short absence

Scan results reveal minor medial knee ligament injury.

Manager Paul Cox has revealed that on loan wing-back Kieron Freeman will be out of action for up to a fortnight, following scan results on the injury which forced him off in Tuesday’s draw at Tranmere Rovers.

The 22-year-old, who joined us on a three-month loan from Derby County earlier this month, sustained a knee injury just after the half-hour mark, and had to be replaced by Rob Taylor.

“He [Kieron] has tweaked his medial ligament and I think he’ll be one to two weeks,” said Cox.

Reflecting on our injury problems as a whole, our boss added: “I’ve never had a situation like this before – not even as a player.

“Even the other night, it becomes a little bit surreal when a player goes down and you get the call to make changes, you wonder what we’ve done.

“But it’s part and parcel of the game. It’s probably a one-off, because I’ve never been through it before, and we’ve just got to get on with things. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us.”
