Forest reaction: Cox & Murray

13 July 2013

Manager Paul Cox has revealed that he has had a bid accepted for an unnamed striker at a League One club.

Our boss, who was speaking after today’s clash against Nottingham Forest, now expects to hold talks with the player early next week.

Cox said: “I spoke to a League One player yesterday and we’ve put in a bid, which has been accepted by his club.

“I can’t say who he is at this stage, but we’ll now speak to the player next week and see if we can agree terms with him.”

In today’s clash with Forest, Radoslaw Majewski’s first-minute strike sealed a hard-fought win for the visitors, who named a 19-man squad for the match.

Our boss continued: What was pleasing today was at times our shape looked good, and we improved as the match went on.

“I’m not too concerned [about results] at this stage, but we’ve still got to be more clinical in front of goal when we create chances.

“I thought the match was very similar to the Liverpool FA Cup match. We sat off them too much in the first half, but improved after the break.

“There were some massive plus points. Matt Rhead read the game well and Jake Speight looked very hungry – which pleased me a lot.”

Skipper/Assistant Manager Adam Murray added: “It was a good test for us. We knew that it would be a game to work on our shape and fitness, because we wouldn’t have much of the ball.

“After the first few minutes I thought we did really well.

“It’s still early and there is still some rustiness, but now is the time where Pre-Season kicks in and we can get the football’s out again.”

Our next Pre-Season clash is at Chester on Tuesday (k/o 7.30pm).
