FA remind fans of pitch invasion regulations

5 May 2016

The Football Association have reminded all supporters that pitch invasions will not be permitted during the final match of the season this Saturday.

Pitch incursions pose a threat to the safety of players, officials and spectators, therefore The Football Association have reminded clubs to make every effort to prevent fans from entering the pitch.

Supporters are required to remain in the stands and will be reminded of such prior to any ‘lap of honour’ made by the team.

The game's governing body have reiterated to us that the players will only complete a ‘lap of honour’ if the pitch remains clear and no supporters encroach on the surface.

The FA has viewed with concern a number of incidents at this stage last season involving pitch incursions by spectators at a number of clubs. Such incidents have resulted in clubs being charged and subsequently fined up to £200,000 by Regulatory Commissions.

In light of these incidents and given the stage of the season, The FA has asked all clubs to review their procedures for dealing with mass incursions and to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to deal with such incidents.

Should the club fail to prevent such incidents, disciplinary action could be taken against the club in the event of an incursion.
