Danish stopper signs new Stags' contract

12 May 2016

Veteran goalkeeper Brian Jensen has today re-affirmed his commitment to the Stags by penning a new deal at One Call Stadium.

Nicknamed ‘The Beast’, Jensen holds the record for being the oldest player ever to appear for the club at the age of 40 years, seven months and nine days, most recently appearing in the 3-1 defeat away at AFC Wimbledon in January.

The Copenhagen-born man joined the club last summer from Crawley Town as goalkeeper/goalkeeper coach and became the Stags’ first-choice ‘keeper following an infection picked up by Scott Shearer in the Capital One Cup round one tie at Sheffield Wednesday last August.

In mid-January, Shearer then reclaimed the number one jersey during a season of high competition in between the sticks.

In total, Jensen made 25 starts for us in all competitions throughout 2015-16.

The giant stopper’s contract will commence from 01 July 2016, subject to Football League ratification.

Earlier today, midfielder Jamie McGuire signed a new deal at One Call Stadium.
