Cox hails fantastic support

5 September 2012

Manager Paul Cox has praised our supporters for the backing they gave to the team in last night’s victory over Tamworth at One Call Stadium.

Speaking moments after the final whistle, Cox said: “I thought the supporters were fantastic tonight and a massive credit has to go to them.”

“The drum came back and it brought a real energy to the stadium. It’s no coincidence whatsoever, that we put in a good performance and gained the three points.

“Positive vibes from fans encourage the players out on the pitch and help to push them on.

“The lads came in tonight, banged the music on and they all had really big smiles on their faces. The team spirit has come back and we all feel very positive right now.”

A penalty from Matt Green in stoppage time at the end of the first period and a header from Luke Jones earned us a comfortable victory over the Lambs, and our manager was pleased with the way his side performed.

He continued: “The main thing for us was that we improved on Saturday’s performance against Woking, and I thought we did that tonight.”

“We looked instructed, organised and deserved to win the game. It is pleasing that we put our chances away and kept a clean sheet too.”

Our next game is on Saturday afternoon when we make the long journey to Kent to face Ebbsfleet United.
