Cox flattered by media speculation

27 May 2014

Boss discusses talk linking him with the current managerial vacancy at Blackpool.

Manager Paul Cox admits he is flattered to be linked with the vacant managerial post at Blackpool, but insists he is fully-concentrated on being manager of Mansfield Town.

The Seasiders parted company with temporary-boss Barry Ferguson earlier this month, despite stringing together some good results in the latter weeks of the campaign to avoid relegation.

As a result, the Bloomfield Road-based outfit are now preparing for their fourth consecutive season in the Sky Bet Championship, but are still searching for a new manager.

Along with Cox, several other names have been linked to the managerial vacancy at Blackpool, including Jose Riga and Brian Flynn.

Our boss said: “It’s always nice to have speculation about you in a positive way, because I’ve been in football a long time. I know you’re only two or three games away from getting the sack in this business.

“So it’s nice to know that there seems to be people out there who think I’m doing a good job at Mansfield.

“I’m continuously trying to build the club, improve the infrastructure and make it a successful club for as long as I’m here.”

A full interview with Paul Cox from today’s press meeting will be available on Stags Player later today. To subscribe, click here.
