Manager Paul Cox insists that those players currently watching from the sidelines still have a major role to play this term.
Our boss was speaking ahead of tonightâs reserve team match against Rotherham United at One Call Stadium, which begins at 7.00pm.
âIâve probably spent more time with the players who havenât played, than those who have played recently,â said Cox.
âIâve got players such as Junior Daniel, Lindon Meikle, Louis Briscoe, Ross Dyer, Jake Speight and others, who are all âchomping at the bitâ to try and get in the side.
âItâs hard sometimes because they have to be patient, but something will give at some point, whether itâs a loss of form, an injury or a suspension.
âThatâs when somebody has to come in and grab their opportunity.â
He continued: âThere has been interest shown in our players over the past week; the players have been notified, but theyâve told me they want to play for this football club.
âOur dressing room at the minute is quite infectious. Going down to Newport last Friday, our team spirit was excellent and that can âmove mountainsâ.
âI thought it epitomised our mindset at the minute that (Martin Riley), even though he was a little bit incoherent when he received treatment (at Newport), wanted to carry on.
âThe players are working hard and theyâre starting to believe in themselves. Weâve tweaked a few things, but not done too much differently.
âI think League Two gives you a little bit more time to play football, but other than that there isnât a great deal of difference."
Our boss also had praise for striker Jake Speight, whom has impressed him during the past week.Â
âThe last seven to 10 days is the best that Iâve seen Jake, in terms of mindset and his mentality,â said Cox.
âWhat Iâve said to him is âGet your head down and get in our first teamâ. I want as many good players in my squad as possible.Â
âIn the behind closed doors match against Notts County, he looked very sharp, but more importantly, it is the best Iâve seen him since he signed for the club.â
