Community manager to climb Mount Snowdon

2 May 2016

Mansfield Town’s Football in the Community manager Gary Shaw will be walking up Mount Snowdon to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and Thomas Cook Children’s Charity this week.

Gary will be joined by 13 other hikers and the team will be departing from One Call Stadium for their heroic venture at 5am on Thursday 05 May.

Arriving at Mount Snowdon in Wales at 9.30am, the fundraisers will then begin the eight-mile walk to the top of the mountain – a massive 3,070 feet. The walk is expected to take approximately six hours.

Prostate Cancer UK is a charity which invests millions of pounds into research, services and awareness of prostate cancer because they believe that ‘men deserve better’ when suffering from the disease. Deaths from prostate cancer are expected to soar over the next ten years, but the charity wants to raise vital funds to provide more specialist nurses to prevent that from happening.

Thomas Cook Children’s Charity aim to improve the lives of youngsters by bettering education facilities, improving wellbeing and health care whilst also supporting local communities.

Once the group have completed the mission, they will make the journey back to One Call Stadium’s Sandy Pate Sports Bar at around 8pm on the same day for well-deserved refreshments and supporters are encouraged to welcome them back.

The bar is located at the back of the Ian Greaves Stand and parking is FREE for all, with plenty of spaces always available.
