Clucas focussed on Oldham tie

16 December 2013

Frontman Sam Clucas wants ‘dreams to come true’ tomorrow night as we bid to eliminate Oldham Athletic from the FA Cup with Budweiser and seal a Third Round date at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old has been in red-hot form in recent weeks and netted the equaliser in our 1-1 draw at Boundary Park, ten days ago.

Clucas also scooped the prestigious ‘Player of the Round’ award with a devastating four-goal haul in a 17-minute spell during our First Round rout of St Albans City.

He said: “[This is a competition] what can make your dreams come true.

“I don’t think words can describe what playing at Anfield would mean. As a footballer, you always want to play in big stadiums against big teams.

“We’re one game away from doing that and, if we can beat Oldham, it’ll be unbelievable. It’s a big game and we’ve got a great incentive to get through. Everyone is buzzing and can’t wait to get out there."

After a closely-fought 1-1 draw at Boundary Park in the reverse fixture less than a fortnight ago, Clucas believes the margins will be just as close in tomorrow night’s replay.

“I don’t think [the game] will be too much different, but both teams will be nervous,” added the youngster.

“Oldham’s players are going to be up for it, just as much as we are, but we know what they’re about and we’ve been working towards this game."
