Clements suffers injury set back

17 September 2013

Midfielder Chris Clements could be sidelined for up to four months, first team physio Simon Murphy confirmed today.

The central midfielder strained a medial ligament (knee) during the first half in Saturday’s 2-1 win at York City.

Speaking to mansfieldtown.net this morning, Murphy said:  “He had a scan yesterday to confirm that he severely strained his medial ligament and is starting his rehab today.

“He will see a specialist this week to get a proper time frame [as to how long he'll be sidelined], but we’re looking at a case of months rather than weeks.

“We will know later this week whether he needs an operation.  Hopefully he won’t, and if he doesn’t then he’ll be back quicker than four months – we’re using that as a bench mark.”

Manager Paul Cox added: “It’s a big loss for us and I feel gutted for the kid. He’s been playing well and has been getting better and better each game.”
