Midfielder Chris Clements could be sidelined for up to four months, first team physio Simon Murphy confirmed today.
The central midfielder strained a medial ligament (knee) during the first half in Saturdayâs 2-1 win at York City.
Speaking to mansfieldtown.net this morning, Murphy said: Â âHe had a scan yesterday to confirm that he severely strained his medial ligament and is starting his rehab today. Â
âHe will see a specialist this week to get a proper time frame [as to how long he'll be sidelined], but weâre looking at a case of months rather than weeks.

âWe will know later this week whether he needs an operation.  Hopefully he wonât, and if he doesnât then heâll be back quicker than four months â weâre using that as a bench mark.âÂ
Manager Paul Cox added: âItâs a big loss for us and I feel gutted for the kid. Heâs been playing well and has been getting better and better each game.â
