Chapman signs from Oxford

6 March 2013

We can now confirm that highly-rated midfielder Adam Chapman has today joined us on loan until the end of the season from Oxford United, with a view to a permanent move at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old has made 32 appearances for The U’s in League Two this season.

A former Sheffield United player, Chapman also has international experience, having won seven caps for Northern Ireland Under 21s.

He was part of the Oxford side that won promotion to the Football League, via the play-offs in 2010.

Manager Paul Cox said:  “After losing Anthony Howell for a short period of time, it was important that we strengthened in the centre of midfield.

“We had various options, but when we learned that Chappy was available, we were keen to bring him here.

“He’ll add a bit of everything to our midfield. He’s a strong player, with great technical ability.”

Chapman will be part of the squad which travels to face Woking this evening in the Blue Square Bet Premier (7.45pm).
