Briscoe leaves Mansfield Town

12 May 2014

Long-serving winger ends five-and-a-half-year stay at One Call Stadium.

Winger Louis Briscoe has this morning left Mansfield Town after being told his contract will not be renewed for next term.

The 26-year-old, who joined the club on the same day as goalkeeper Alan Marriott in January 2009, made 199 appearances for us in all competitions and scored some important goals.

Highlights during his spell in North Nottinghamshire include scoring the goal in a nail-biting FA Trophy Semi-Final clash at Luton Town, which sent us to the new Wembley Stadium for the first time.

The winger also bagged a hat-trick in a 7-0 demolition of Barrow in March 2012, and produced a ‘Man of the Match’ display in our Conference Premier championship-clinching 1-0 win over Wrexham in April 2013.

However, arguably his best moment at the club came four months earlier, when he wrote his name into Mansfield Town folklore with a sensational strike in a 3-3 draw at Lincoln City in the FA Cup, followed by a winner in the replay, which earned us a Third Round tie against mighty Liverpool.

Everyone at One Call Stadium would like to thank Louis for his efforts and contributions whilst at the club and wish him the best of luck in the future.
