Tonight: An Evening with Colin Foster

8 February 2016

An Evening with Colin Foster will take place in the Sandy Pate Sports Bar this evening (7.30pm).

Youth team manager John Dempster was advertised as the next guest for the popular series in Saturday's matchday programme and at last week's 'An Evening with Adam Murray', but the former defender had planned to take care of with his under 18s side taking on Basford United this evening, before the match was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Therefore, the highly-entertaining Foster will take to the stage alongside host for the evening Alan Wilson, to talk about his distinguished playing career in which he played over 250 times for the Stags, including their solitary season in the old Division Two.

The former central defender came through the ranks at Field Mill before making his debut against Plymouth Argyle, the same game as his namesake, Barry Foster. He formed a formidable partnership with Kevin Bird and was almost ever-present in the 1976-77 Division Three title-winning side.

After nine years with the club, Foster moved to Peterborough for £13,000 in 1993 where he retired before becoming a painter and decorator.

Entry to the evening is FREE for all and there will be the opportunity to ask Colin your questions, as well as the chance to win Stags merchandise.
