Youth preview: Hartlepool United vs Stags

5 October 2016

Mansfield Town's under 18s travel to the North East to face Hartlepool United on Saturday (12pm kick-off) as they look for their seventh consecutive victory.

John Dempster's men have won their last six league games in the EFL Youth Alliance, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

Last weekend, they came up against a Doncaster Rovers side who recalled Reece Fielding and Will Longbottom to the their squad after being involved with the first team since pre-season, however Stags fought hard to secure a 1-0 victory thanks to Tom Marriott's second half free-kick.

The 17-year-old winger made his first team debut for the Stags in Tuesday evening's 1-0 win over Port Vale in the Checkatrade Trophy after enjoying a fantastic start to the season in which he's scored four goals.

Pools are only above Grimsby Town in the league table after picking up just four points from their opening six games. Their solitary victory of the campaign came against York City when they triumphed 2-1 in a home fixture, before securing a 2-2 draw against Burton Albion six weeks later.

Stags, on the other hand, have carried on from where they left off last season. The under 18s sensationally won the league title in their first season and have began the current campaign in fine form, remaining unbeaten through their first seven league and two cup fixtures.

Supporters are welcome to watch our youngsters in action and the venue is as follows:

Blackhall Colliery Welfare Park,
Eleventh Street,
Blackhall Colliery,
