White's got the feel-good factor

9 February 2017

Stags’ defender Hayden White says he is enjoying playing regular football after joining the club on loan from Peterborough United last month.

The 21-year-old has been ever-present in the Stags’ right-back berth following his debut at Notts County and has been part of a defensive rearguard which has conceded just one goal since the derby day draw.

And the former Bolton Wanderers defender says he is relishing the opportunity to play regular EFL football after boss Steve Evans brought him to the club last month.

“All I want to do is play football and the gaffer gave me the opportunity to play here and I took it. I give my best in every game and try to perform and I think I have so far.

“I’m really enjoying it. It’s going very well and we’re picking up the results that we need and hopefully that can continue.

“It’s been a bit stop-start, especially this season, but I’m here now and it’s my job to keep myself in the team and I’m sure I can do that.”

And after stating that he is enjoying life at One Call Stadium, the London-born man says he is open to the possibility of turning his loan into a permanent switch at the end of the season, but admits the decision is in the hands of the manager.

“We’ll see what the manager says and what he wants to do come the end of the season. I’m really enjoying it here and we’ll see what happens.

“When you’ve got a manager like this with his past record and what he’s trying to achieve, this is always something that will appeal to me.”

Stags have steadily climbed the Sky Bet League Two table since the turn of the year and White says the whole squad are focussed on working together to achieve collective success.

“Pearcey [Krystian Pearce], Benno [Rhys Bennett], Mal [Benning] – they’ve all been first class and they’ve done very well. They’ve helped me settle in straight away and I’m very happy to be playing at the moment.

“When you’ve got players in front of you that want to work and you can tell that Collo [Lee Collins], Ben [Whiteman], everyone in there, they just want to win. There’s a lot of winners in the team and it’s very good at the moment.

“The boys in the changing room are just taking it one game at a time at the moment and we’re trying to get the three points there and then we’ll move on to the next game. All the focus is on the Saturday coming up.”
