The club is offering an exciting opportunity for a Sports Science Intern to work alongside our sports science and medical department for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.




JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION: Sports Science Intern
DEPARTMENT: Sports Science & Medicine
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of fitness & rehabilitation

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

• To assist the sports science & medical department with performance related testing, interventions / activities & analysis 

• To assist with the day-to-day running of the sports science & medical department 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• To assist in the delivery and monitoring of performance testing measures (including; body fat testing, body mass measurements & specific performance related tests) 

• To assist with pre & post performance injury prevention and recovery methods (including; hydrotherapy, ice baths, warm ups & cool downs) 

• To supervise and carry out individual and group exercise programmes devised by the sports science and medical team 

• To attend and actively participate in departmental training sessions 

• To participate in morning and afternoon handover sessions with the Sports Science & Medicine Team & inform staff of any issues which may have arisen throughout the day 

• To communicate with the sports science and medical team of progress of set activities

• To provide assistance with performance and fitness related data input and analysis 

• To assist the Sports Science & Medicine Team with match day preparations 

• To inform senior staff immediately should an injury, incident or emergency occur 

• To supervise & assist with the delivery of daily nutritional / dietary plans and requirements 

• To maintain accurate & up to date documentation of sessions in line with departmental guidelines 

• To assist in maintaining a safe working environment 

• To act in a professional responsible manner at all times 

• To undertake such other tasks commensurate with the post of a Sports Science Intern 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

• Exceptional communication skills 

• Professional, reliable and flexible approach to work 

• Keen interest in sports performance & fitness 

• The ability to encourage & motivate players with individual exercise programmes 

• An enthusiastic attitude 

• Good health, stamina and well being 

• The ability to work well in a team and on your own
