Local pupils win tickets for today's game

29 April 2017

There will be 60 pupils from St Peters CofE School at today’s match against Portsmouth after Stags’ players visited the school earlier this week.

Defenders Krystian Pearce and Rhys Bennett and striker Danny Rose went to St Peter Primary school earlier this week, alongside director Steve Middleton and mascot Sammy the Stag as one of our visits into the community.

The 60 children took part in a coaching session, led by the three players, before competing in a colouring competition to win tickets to today's game. They were also given the opportunity to ask the players questions in a Q&A session.

The winners of the colouring competition were set to win tickets to the clash against Pompey, but after being taken aback by the quality of the drawings, Mr Middleton decided to reward everyone who took part.

Steve, addressing the children in the school theatre, said: “For those of you who did the colouring competition, we really appreciate it. Myself and Danielle [Hett, supporter liaison officer] looked over them and thought they were absolutely fantastic.

“What we’re going to do, because it was so hard to pick a winner, [we’ve decided] you are all winners.

“Because you are all winners, I’m going to give the nice young lady over here (the pupils’ teacher) lots of tickets so you can come to the game against Portsmouth.”

Further to the activities, the Stags’ players posed for photographs and signed autographs for the children to finish off a brilliant afternoon in the community.

We hope everyone from St Peters CofE School enjoys their day at One Call Stadium today.
