Almost £4,000 has been given to ten charities as a result of proceeds from fans' parking their cars at a site near One Call Stadium.
The funds have been generated by supporters who parked their vehicles at the Müller depot on Quarry Lane when our first team played at home in 2015-16.Backed by bosses at Müller - the UK’s leading yogurt manufacturer - and operated by its product controller Alan Lowe, the site is an alternative venue for parking on a home matchday as One Call Stadium's main car park often reaches capacity.
Parking at the Müller depot (formerly known as The Dairy Crest) costs just £3 per vehicle, with 80% of the fee heading towards selected charities at the end of each football season.
Speaking to www.mansfieldtown.net, Mr Lowe said: Â "The charities that we've chosen to give the money to are mostly local charities.Â
"As opposed to national charities, local charities receive little government funding in comparison."
The breakdown of funds to the charities, selected by Mr Lowe, are as follows:
Blood Bikes - £800.00
Brain Injury Trust - £500.00
Start a Heart 24/7 - £500.00
