A leader at the heart of the defence, 18-year-old Drew Ricketts switched to Mansfield Town after being released by Oxford United at the end of last season. He also played for Walsall as a teenager.
A tough-tackling and hard-working centre-back, he relishes the role of a goal-scoring defender, and as such, is a threat from set-pieces. Â
Ricketts, who idolises Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany, has been named as the under-21s’ skipper on numerous occasions in the 2016/17 season.
