We had two mascots for last Saturday’s match against table-toppers Wycombe Wanderers at One Call Stadium.
Troy Maltby, aged eight, is a pupil at Holly Hill School. Troy is a massive football fan and his favourite Stags player is Chris Clements.
Charlotte Porter, aged seven, is our other mascot today. She attends Peafield Lane Primary Academy and also goes to Stage Door Dancing School. Charlotte’s favourite player is striker Ollie Palmer.
We hope both youngsters had an enjoyable day with us.
Girls lose out in Area Finals
Joseph Whitaker School recently represented the club in the Area Finals of the Kinder+Sport Under 13s Girls Cup.
Ten schools were in attendance for the finals, which were staged in Derby, and despite their best efforts, the girls were unable to progress.
The day started with heavy defeats to both Notts County and Chesterfield, but an impressive 6-0 victory over Burton Albion saw the girls get back on track. They drew 4-4 with Doncaster Rovers in their final group game, but unfortunately this wasn’t enough to progress any further.
Everyone involved with Joseph Whitaker School had a memorable day and would like to thank our Football in the Community team for hosting the local competition and supporting them in the Area Finals.
Kids go for glory
As part of the half-time entertainment at our recent game against Wycombe Wanderers, Peafield Lane Academy and Halam School will go head-to-head to decide who wins the local Under 11s Kids Cup competition.
The victorious school will progress to represent the club in the Area Finals at Morecambe in March, where they will face other local winners representing Northern-based League Two clubs.
If they are victorious again, they will get the once in a lifetime opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium prior to the League Two Play-Off Final in May.
