Our mascot against Dagenham & Redbridge was nine-year-old Ewan Parsons. The youngster is a pupil at Clowne Junior School and his hobbies include karate and playing Xbox games. His favourite player is big, burly frontman Matt Rhead.
Female Football Development
During the February half-term, eight girls from our Female Football Development programme got to experience what it was like to play football against real opposition for the very first time.
The purpose of the programme is to engage with young girls who don't play regularly in structured environments.
The girls formed a representative squad for Mansfield Town and their opponents were a 20-girl squad from Peterborough United’s FFD programme.
Although they didn’t earn a victory, the girls were a credit to both themselves and our FFD programme.
Precisely 74 children attended our activities during the recent half-term holiday.
Our activities included football sessions, indoor fun and games at One Call Stadium, as well as day trips to Manchester United, Newcastle United and Derby County.
Every day was successful and the children enjoyed all the activities.
The next school holiday activities will be during the Easter break in April – dates, times and a full programme will be announced once finalised.
Today’s Half-Time Entertainment
We would like to thank all of the players from Clipstone’s Under 9s team, who will be provided the entertainment on the One Call Stadium pitch during the half-time interval of the match against Dagenham & Redbridge.
We hope that you have a memorable afternoon with us.
In the latest instalment to our new column, Football in the Community officer Jordan Ferrer shares with us another fact from his mind of information: “Buckingham Palace has 602 rooms.”
John Radford Trophy
The coming months will see the return of the John Radford Trophy.
This is a school football competition for Year Five pupils organised by ourselves. The eventual two finalists will go head-to-head on the pitch at One Call Stadium during the half-time interval of a forthcoming home fixture.
So far 21 schools have registered to participate in this year’s competition.
